PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The “Career Development Roadmap” project was developed to directly respond to the problems affecting young people in the City of Kragujevac and its surroundings. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the position and quality of life of young people from the territory of the City of Kragujevac through the improvement of employment and employability. The idea on the basis of which the overall goal was formulated is that the opportunity for employment and economic independence are key conditions for a quality life of a young person, as well as necessary conditions for improving self-confidence and self-esteem of young people and empowering them to actively participate in the life of the community as full-fledged adult citizens. The indicators on the basis of which progress towards the overall goal is measured are the reduction of the youth unemployment rate and increase of number of entrepreneurial initiatives of young people in the territory of the City of Kragujevac.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project focuses on providing technical support to 20 SMEs to improve their business, product and service quality, and management capacity regarding internal quality standards. This will be achieved through a tailored business support program for 10 SMEs, a quality management training program for 10 professionals, mentoring support in preparing for and obtaining certification for 5 SMEs, and procurement of equipment/services for the needs of 5 SMEs.

The program is divided into three thematic units within which the support will be implemented:

Digitization of SME business
Marketing and internationalization of SME business
Standardization of SME business

“Design and organization of Hackathon”

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The “Hackathon” program is realized within the framework of the four-year program “Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups,” which is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Republic of Serbia.

The target group of the program consists of Roma and members of other marginalized groups who face the same socio-economic challenges and are between the ages of 15 and 30.

The goal of the “Hackathon” program is to enable the creation of favourable conditions and an favourable environment for young people from Kragujevac and Pirot. This will give them the opportunity to conceive, design, plan, and implement transparent and sustainable solutions to the problems they face in their communities and to come up with inclusive solutions for generating income and employment.

The program involves realizing the concept of social mentoring with the goal of self-actualization of the individual while considering the environment and all relevant external conditions, as well as full inclusion in the community. Within this project, the goal of social mentoring is to support access to the labour market and employment and achieve the participants’ personal goals through the “Learning by doing and thinking approach”.

Youth projects developed within the Hackathon provided sustainable answers to local challenges related to inclusive income and employment promotion, considering the social, economic, and environmental dimensions.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project was designed as a direct response to the problems and challenges faced by two groups of young people from the territory of the City of Kragujevac: young unemployed, who are thinking about a career in entrepreneurship, and who do not have relevant work experience, lack a capacity, knowledge, skills and capital placing them in problematic position for starting their entrepreneurial initiatives, and young people who graduated from seconadry schools who are faced with decisions that will significantly affect their future, which they cannot make due to a lack of information and support. Within these groups, special emphasis and access are put on young women, young people from rural areas, young Roma, and other particularly vulnerable groups of young people who face multiple discrimination on the labor market.

The program’s goal is to contribute to improving the position and quality of life of young people from the territory of the City of Kragujevac through the improvement of employment and employability.

The goal of the project “Intersectoral support for the smart growth of small and medium-sized enterprises” in Central Serbia, financed by the European Union in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Serbia through the EUPRO program, which is implemented by Biznis Inovacioni Centar doo Kragujevac, in partnership with Business Innovation Programs, BIPS is to help small and medium-sized enterprises from Central Serbia improve their products/services to better respond to demand and place them on the appropriate market.

The goal of the support program is to contribute to the development of the sustainability and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises through services that improve processes and the quality of products/services. The project provides targeted services, in accordance with the needs of each company/beneficiary of the program, which will result in the improvement of products/services, design, branding, production processes/service provision, and other areas that are significant for the company’s sustainability and competitiveness.

The project was designed as a direct response to the problems and challenges faced by three target groups of young people from the territory of the City of Kragujevac: unemployed young people who do not have relevant work experience and therefore have a problem finding a job, young people from rural areas who work in family farms, who lack the capacity, knowledge and capital to diversify production on their farm and introduce new profitable activities and young people who graduated secondary school and are faced with decisions that will significantly affect their future, which they cannot make due to a lack of information and support. The project aims to improve the employability and employment of youth, as it contributes to the improvement of employment and employability of young people through 3 innovative mechanisms intended for these target groups:

Post-flood technical and financial assistance for SMEs in Obrenovac

2014-2016

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project goal was to secure technical and financial assistance for Obrenovac SMEEs, which had suffered damages due to floods in May 2014. Project results are:

  • 20 training sessions for business and recovery plans development were organized, with a total of 427 participants,
  • A grant scheme was established, and 174 grants for business development and recovery were distributed
  • Help-desk and other technical support instruments were established.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We’re here together. European support for Roma inclusion was a EUR 4.8 million project implemented by the OSCE mission in Serbia and funded by the European Union. The project goal was to support the implementation of the strategy for improving the position of Roma in the Republic of Serbia.

BIPS’s role was to train project beneficiaries in business planning, implement business assessment, and provide recommendations for financial support. After the grants were distributed, BIPS organized an assessment of clients’ needs regarding consultancy for business development and implemented a consultancy and mentoring program in accordance with clients’ needs.

Honey production – Export chance for Branicevski district

2013 – 2014

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project goal was to contribute to socio-economic development in Branicevski districts by reviving rural areas and introducing honey production as an income-generating activity. 111 beekeepers were awarded 1,032 bee hives to improve their production, and 278 beekeepers participated in training. As part of the project, an export channel from Serbia to Norway was established in cooperation with Norway’s largest honey importer, Honnig Centralen.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The program’s goal was to develop capacities for entrepreneurship and promote entrepreneurial spirit among Serbian secondary school students. During the eight years, 212 secondary schools from the entire Country, 441 teachers, and 6,456 students who formed 1,387 student companies participated in the program. An advocacy initiative to improve the legal framework for entrepreneurial education was also launched during the program.

The project goal was to improve the work of civil society organizations working with vulnerable groups through the establishment of work areas and capacity building of employees. PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Danish program for the development of fruit production in south Serbia aimed to improve production, processing, and sale of sourcherry, plum, cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry. The program was implemented in Nisavski, Toplicki, Jablanicki, Pcinjski, and Pirotski dostrcits. General program goals were:

  • Strengthening the sustainable development of the private sector,
  • Increasing export and income,
  • Job creation and migration reduction.

The program’s main components were capacity building and grants to develop value chains.

The project goal was to increase the capacities of relevant stakeholders involved in youth entrepreneurship. 14 business support institutions, 21 trainers/consultants, and 746 young entrepreneurs participated in the project. 42 trainings were organized, 152 companies were established, and 198 jobs were created within 6 months of project completion.
